To introduce our Global Education Summit speakers to you, we asked them share with us what makes them proud as a global educator, what transforming education means to them, and how their work has changed in the past year. 

For 21 years, Amy Baker has been involved in global education and is proud to provide global access to stakeholders and offer insight and live trends in global student mobility.  

To her, transforming global education means working in an industry that wants education to equate to lifetime impact, expanding access to privilege and opportunity, and ensuring globally-minded citizens.  

In the last year, her work has changed in many ways. She says, “I’ve been at home a lot more, and there are some upsides—no jet lag and spending more time with my children!  

About her work
As the CEO of The PIE—a media, recruitment and events business founded for professionals working in global education—Amy is a well-known international education expert, working first as a journalist, then as editor of a trade magazine before establishing The PIE in 2011. She is passionate about international exchange and business, migration, tech-enabled learning and education as a global passport. The PIE’s flagship website reaches three million readers each year. Amy was the recipient of the IEAA Award for Excellence in Professional Commentary in 2014 and named Woman Business Owner of the Year in 2017 from Lead5050.
